On Saturday, October 26th, riders from the East Side Bike Club and other groups across Western New York connected Freedom Park in Buffalo and Freedom Park in Fort Erie, Ontario. The concept was to honor a hero of the Underground Railroad! Josiah Henson and his family escaped slavery in Kentucky and crossed the Niagara River 194 years ago today to gain freedom! He wrote a book about his adventure, which then inspired abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stowe to write Uncle Tom’s Cabin.

We also took in some of the great infrastructure for biking along the Friendship Trail in Fort Erie. If you missed this ride, it will be a part of our schedule so be on the look out for the 2025 Can Am ride.
